Diego Valderrama joined Templeton Global Macro in 2009 and was most recently a Senior Global Macro & Research Analyst before becoming Deputy Director of Research. In this position, Dr. Valderrama specializes in global macroeconomics. He has a regional focus on the United States and Latin America. Dr. Valderrama is also a regular contributor to Global Macro Shifts and the team's proprietary TGM-ESG Index.

Prior to joining Franklin Templeton Investments, Dr. Valderrama worked as an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco in the Economics Research Department. His research focused on international capital flows, international trade, innovation and productivity growth, and development. Dr. Valderrama has published both in peer-refereed economics journals and policy periodicals.

Dr. Valderrama holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in economics from Duke University and a B.A. in economics from Cornell University. He is also fluent in Spanish.
